St. Joseph iconsidered a great saint because he is a strong role model of humility, hard work, and quiet strength. As a carpenter, he lived a life of dedication and perseverance, showing that even simple, everyday work can be holy and meaningful. He is also known as the protector of Mary and Jesus, making him a powerful symbol of care and responsibility—qualities that are important in a classroom community. Though he never speaks in the Bible, his actions show deep faith and obedience to God’s will, reminding students that true strength often comes from doing the right thing quietly and faithfully. As the patron saint of workers and families, St. Joseph also represents discipline and commitment, encouraging students to stay focused and do their best even when challenges arise. His example can inspire a classroom to be a place of respect, patience, and teamwork.
Our Class Saints
“The memory of the Saints leads us to raise our eyes to Heaven: not to forget the realities of the earth, but to face them with greater courage, with more hope.”
Pope Francis, Angelus, 1st November 2019

As Catholics, saints serve as examples for us, motivating us to lead lives of holiness and providing the strength to become the individuals God intended us to be.
In our Catholic school, the saints chosen for each class act as spiritual guides for our students, embodying virtues and principles that align with our faith-centered educational approach. These influential figures from the Church offer a concrete example of living a life rooted in faith and service, encouraging both personal and academic development. The class saints also promote a sense of unity and identity within the classroom, offering a common patron for communal prayer, reflection, and religious activities.
Each class will take inspiration from their saint, learn about their life throughout the year, celebrate their feast day and talk to them during classroom collective worship.
Reception - St. Anthony

Year 1 - St. Francis
St. Francis of Assisi is a wonderful saint because he showed us how to love God, people, and all of nature in a very special way. He lived a simple and humble life, helping the poor, caring for the sick, and sharing kindness with everyone he met. St. Francis believed that every creature—birds, animals, and even the sun and moon—were gifts from God, and he treated them with love and respect.
He also taught us how to live peacefully and to trust God to take care of us. St. Francis reminds us that being kind, loving, and thankful can bring us closer to God and make the world a better place. That’s why he’s known as the patron saint of animals, the environment, and peace!

Year 2 - St. Cecilia
St. Cecilia is a great saint because she is the patron saint of music and musicians because, according to tradition, she sang to God in her heart even as she faced great suffering. Her deep faith and love for God were so strong that nothing could silence her spirit. St. Cecilia is a powerful example of courage and devotion—she stayed true to her beliefs, even when it was difficult or dangerous. In a classroom setting, she inspires students to use their talents for good, to stand firm in their values, and to bring joy to others through kindness and creativity. Her life reminds us that beauty, especially through music and the arts, can be a way to praise God and lift up those around us.

Year 3 - St. Theresa
St. Teresa of Calcutta (also known as Mother Teresa) is an excellent example of a saint because she showed how powerful love, kindness, and service can be. She dedicated her life to helping the poorest of the poor, reminding us that every person—no matter how small or forgotten—deserves dignity and care. Her famous words, "Do small things with great love," are a perfect lesson for students, showing that even the smallest actions can make a big difference when done with compassion. St. Teresa was also a woman of deep faith and prayer, drawing strength from God to continue her difficult work. As a class saint, she inspires students to be generous, caring, and unafraid to help others. Her life teaches that greatness isn’t about being famous or powerful, but about serving others with a humble heart and loving spirit.

Year 4 - St. Josephine
St. Josephine Bakhita is a powerful and inspiring choice for a class saint because her life is a story of courage, forgiveness, and hope. Born in Sudan, she was kidnapped as a child and sold into slavery, suffering great hardship and cruelty. Yet, through it all, she remained kind-hearted and strong. When she later discovered Christianity and joined the Canossian Sisters in Italy, she chose to forgive those who had hurt her and dedicated her life to serving others with joy and humility.
St. Josephine teaches students the importance of resilience, compassion, and the power of forgiveness. Her ability to rise above her painful past and live a life of love and peace is a beautiful example for any classroom. She also reminds us that no matter where we come from or what we face, we are all children of God, and our lives have value and purpose. Her story encourages students to treat everyone with respect and to never lose hope, even in difficult times.

Year 5 - St. Carlo
St. Carlo Acutis is a fantastic exmple of a saint, especially for students today, because he shows how holiness is possible even in modern life. Born in 1991, he was a regular teenager who loved video games, computers, and soccer—but most importantly, he had a deep love for the Eucharist and used his tech skills to share his faith. He created a website to catalog Eucharistic miracles around the world, using the internet to spread God's love in a positive and creative way.
St. Carlo inspires students to be kind, curious, and faithful, reminding them that they don’t have to be perfect or older to make a difference. He once said, "The Eucharist is my highway to Heaven," showing how much he valued his relationship with God. His life teaches that being close to Jesus, serving others, and using your talents for good are what truly matter. As a class saint, St. Carlo encourages students to live their faith joyfully, use technology responsibly, and believe that they can be saints too—right here and now.

Year 6 - ST. Oscar ROmero
St. Oscar Romero is a great saint because he stood up for what is right and cared deeply for people who were poor or treated unfairly. He was a priest and then a bishop in El Salvador, and he spoke out against injustice, violence, and poverty. He wanted everyone to know that every person is loved by God and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
St. Oscar Romero lived out Catholic Social Teaching by showing how important it is to care for the poor and to work for justice and peace. He reminds us that we should stand up for others, especially those who are suffering, and do our best to make the world a kinder, fairer place. Even when it was dangerous, he trusted God and stood up for what was right, teaching us to be brave and loving too!
